Hello

This is the first post. It exists mostly so the site has something to show, and so you can see what the typography looks like with real text in it. Delete it whenever you like — it lives at posts/hello.md.

Everything here is a plain text file. There's no database, no login, no admin panel to forget the password to. A post is a file, the file is the truth, and the site is just a nice way of reading the files.

Headings look like this

Body text sits on a narrow measure — about sixty-five characters — because that's roughly the width the eye can track without losing its place at the end of a line. Wider is not more generous. It's just harder to read.

Occasionally you'll want to quote someone. Quotes are set in italic, with a hairline rule instead of a heavy bar.

Lists work as you'd expect:

  • Ordinary bullets, tight but not cramped
  • Enough room between items to scan
  • Nothing decorative

And inline code sits in a soft box, while a longer block gets its own:

npm run dev

Links are underlined faintly and darken when you hover them, so a paragraph full of them still reads as a paragraph rather than a list of buttons.

That's the whole vocabulary. Headings, text, quotes, lists, code, rules, links. It turns out that's almost everything you ever need to write.
